Autumn a Time to Refresh

While sitting on my porch swing, sipping on a cup of souped-up coffee, I see the color pallet of nature changing right before my very eyes. Yes, the cool weather has finally arrived here in the south and along with it comes the colors of autumn. This is my favorite time of year where my extra time is spent preparing for the up coming season. I love the all the holidays that are just around the corner. There is so much to do, crafting, shopping, planning, cooking, and all types of gatherings to attend.
My excitement of my old friend Autumns arrival can become over whelming. How will I ever get it all accomplished? How will I have time to do everything and make it the most rememberable season every?
Then I start to ponder what should I really be excited about? What really matters in the big sceem of things? Spending quality time with family and friend is so beneficial and wonderful. However, if I am not stopping and spending those quite moments with God I am just spinning like a top and getting no where.
If I want to make this season the best ever I must not forsake my time in prayer and thanksgiving. Autumn should be a time to refresh, refresh means to give new strength or energy to; reinvigorate.
I am reminded that Christ took a time to refresh. We see this in Mark 6:30-32 Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.
If we don't take time with God, we will soon forget that the Autumn can be for our enjoyment. We can get so strapped for time that we don't stop look at the wonder around us. We must invest in those around us and show them the love of Christ because eternal life last forever however, Autumn is with us for only a short while. So, lets rest in the Lord and enjoy our old friend autumn while he's around.
